Free PRM service

Reduced-mobility assistance at GVA

Under EC Regulation 1107/2006, every airline must provide free assistance to passengers with reduced mobility. Request it via your airline at least 48 hours before your flight.

Geneva Airport’s PRM service is delivered by Swissport on behalf of all airlines. It is entirely free — already covered by your airline ticket, no extra charge. Service operates 05:00 – 23:00 daily; outside those hours pre-book via your airline. Reception points equipped with a call button are located at every terminal entrance (T1 departures, T1 arrivals, T2 departures, train station exit) and in car parks P1, P2, P26 and P51. Press the button — an agent arrives within 10 minutes.

Accessibility at Geneva Airport — FAQ

How do I request PRM assistance at Geneva Airport?

Request it via your airline at least 48 hours before your flight — they forward the request to Swissport (the GVA PRM service operator). On the day, go to any of the reception points (T1 departures Level 1, T1 arrivals Level 0, or any car park) and an agent meets you within 10 minutes during operating hours (05:00–23:00). The service is free, covered by your ticket under EC Regulation 1107/2006.

Is Geneva Airport wheelchair-accessible?

Yes, fully — every level connected by elevators (no stairs required for any journey), wheelchair-accessible toilets on every level, jet bridge or lift-equipped bus to every aircraft, hearing loops at key counters, and tactile floor strips for visually impaired travellers. Reception points with call buttons at every entrance and car park. The airport meets all EU accessibility standards (Standards Quality PRM per gva.ch).

Are service dogs allowed at Geneva Airport?

Yes, throughout the airport including airside (after security). Valid documentation required: rabies vaccination certificate, ID tag, training certificate from an accredited organisation. A service dog relief area is signposted near gate A1 in T1A (Schengen). For onward flights, check the destination country’s pet import rules (UK, US, Australia have specific requirements).

Is there a PRM parking option at GVA?

Yes. P1 (covered, attached to T1) is the closest with 28 dedicated PRM bays and direct elevator access to arrivals. P2 has 20 bays. Use your home country’s blue card or Swiss “Mobilité réduite” badge — displayed on the dashboard. Free for the first 30 minutes for drop-off/pickup; standard parking rates apply beyond. Outside parkings (P26, P51) also have PRM bays and lift-equipped shuttle.

Can I get help from arrivals to my hotel or transport?

Yes — Swissport’s PRM service covers the route from arriving aircraft, through immigration/baggage claim, to your onward transport (taxi rank, train station, or rental car desk). For a smoother handover, pre-book a Mercedes transfer that meets you in the arrivals hall — your driver can wait at the dedicated PRM exit point and assist with luggage from the PRM agent’s wheelchair to the car.

Are there hearing induction loops at GVA?

Yes — installed at the airport information desk, most airline check-in counters, and several boarding gates. Switch your hearing aid to T-coil (telecoil) mode to receive direct audio without background noise. Look for the international hearing loop symbol (an ear with a “T” inside). If your hearing aid does not support T-coil, agents can communicate via written notes or via the airport’s text-relay service.

Need accessible airport transfer?

Mercedes V-Class with sliding doors, low floor, room for wheelchair. Driver assists with luggage.
