G7 Summit Évian 2026 — Geneva Airport Travel Guide
The 52nd G7 Summit takes place in Évian-les-Bains (France), from 15 to 17 June 2026, on the French shore of Lake Geneva. France holds the 2026 G7 presidency, hosting the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan and the European Union. Because many heads of state, delegations and the world’s press fly in through Geneva Airport (GVA), the summit brings major airport, airspace, border and road disruptions across the Geneva–Léman region from 10 to 19 June 2026. Here is what every traveller using Geneva Airport needs to know.

Geneva Airport (GVA): what to expect
- Flights continue, but expect disruption. Commercial flights operate throughout, yet delays and tighter security are likely between 13 and 19 June as VIP/delegation traffic and a regional airspace restriction (10 June 13:00 – 18 June 03:00) affect operations.
- Arrive early. Allow extra time for check-in, security and especially for your onward ground transfer.
- Check the official airport G7 page at gva-g7.ch for live operational updates before you fly.
Getting from Geneva Airport to Évian during the G7
Évian is normally about 45 km / 45 minutes from Geneva Airport, but the summit changes the journey completely:
- Carry a valid passport or national ID. Switzerland has reinstated temporary controls at its border with France from 10 to 19 June.
- Only 7 of Geneva’s 35 crossings stay open (12–18 June): Anières, Moillesulaz, Thônex-Vallard, Bardonnex, Perly, Meyrin and Ferney-Voltaire. Closed crossings become unusable from mid-afternoon on Thursday 11 June.
- A1 motorway southbound (Meyrin ↔ Bardonnex) is closed from 00:01 on Monday 15 June to 23:59 on Wednesday 17 June, with further closures around Bernex, Perly/Plan-les-Ouates and La Praille.
- You need a free PASS G7 QR code to enter the Évian “blue zone” (Évian-les-Bains, Neuvecelle, Publier). Request it at pass-g7.gouv.fr — valid from 11 June 00:00 to 17 June 20:00.
- Expect long waits at the border. Allow significant extra time, or pre-book a private transfer with a driver who knows which crossings remain open.
Public transport & alternatives
- TPG (Geneva public transport): a holiday timetable applies 15–17 June. Lines 60, 61 and 80 run normally; line 29 is suspended 12–14 June; cross-border lines may be reduced.
- CGN boats: the N1 Lausanne-Ouchy ↔ Évian service is rerouted to Lugrin-Tourronde, a few kilometres east of Évian, with shuttle-bus connections.
- Trains & coaches in the cross-border area may also be affected — check operators before travelling.
