Emirates baggage at GVA — FAQ

How much checked baggage do I get on Emirates from Geneva?

Flights from Geneva to Dubai use the Emirates weight concept, so your allowance is a total weight you can spread across as many bags as you like (each capped at 32 kg). Economy gets 20 kg on Special, 25 kg on Saver, 30 kg on Flex and 35 kg on Flex Plus. Premium Economy is 35 kg, Business is 40 kg and First is 50 kg. The piece concept only applies on flights to/from the Americas and Africa, which does not affect the GVA–DXB route.

What is the Emirates carry-on size and weight limit at Geneva Airport?

In Economy you may bring one carry-on up to 55 × 38 × 22 cm and 7 kg. Premium Economy is the same size but 10 kg. Business and First passengers get two cabin pieces — a carry-on (55 × 38 × 22 cm) plus a briefcase (45 × 35 × 20 cm) or garment bag, each up to 7 kg. Every cabin item must fit under the seat in front or in an overhead locker. Your EK90 to Dubai departs from the T1B Non-Schengen pier at GVA, so allow time for the extra security and passport control.

Does Emirates carry skis and sports equipment from GVA?

Yes — Emirates treats skis, snowboards and most sports equipment as ordinary checked baggage that counts towards your normal weight allowance, not as a separate free item. So a ski bag simply uses up part of your 25/30/40/50 kg total. The total dimensions of any single item must not exceed 300 cm (length + width + height). If your gear pushes you over your weight allowance, standard excess-baggage rates apply, and some oversized items may need to be confirmed with Emirates in advance.

How does Emirates Skywards status increase my baggage on the GVA route?

Because Geneva–Dubai is a weight-concept route, Skywards status simply adds kilograms on top of your fare’s allowance: Silver gets +12 kg, Gold +16 kg and Platinum +20 kg. For example, an Economy Saver (25 kg) Gold member can check 41 kg total. The bonus applies only on flights operated by Emirates or flydubai, never on codeshares flown by other carriers, and it does not increase your cabin allowance. Each individual bag is still capped at 32 kg.

Can I buy extra baggage with Emirates before flying from Geneva?

Yes. Prepaid extra weight bought online via Manage Your Booking or the Emirates app is markedly cheaper than paying excess at the GVA check-in counter, where airport rates apply per kilo. Exact prices vary by route and how far ahead you buy, so check the live figure for GVA–DXB in Manage Your Booking rather than relying on a fixed amount. Remember the allowance is a single pooled weight, so passengers on the same booking can share it — and no single bag may exceed 32 kg.

Arriving with extra Emirates bags?
