Avis at Geneva Airport.
Two Avis desks, one on each side of the airport, with different opening hours and different phone numbers. Here is which is which.
Geneva has two sides
Genève Aéroport has a Swiss sector and a French sector, reached by its own road access from France, and the two are not connected once you are landside. Avis operates a counter in each. Picking up on the wrong side is not a short walk away — it is a different entrance to the airport.
| Desk | Opening hours | Phone |
|---|---|---|
| Swiss sector arrivals level | 06:30 – 23:30 | +41 22 929 03 30 |
| French sector Secteur France | 08:00 – 22:00 | +41 22 807 62 30 |
Avis and Budget share a phone number at Geneva on both sides of the airport — they are the same operation.
The Google listing shows 06:45 – 23:30, fifteen minutes later than the airport publishes. A quarter of an hour rarely decides anything, but it is worth knowing the two sources differ.
Swiss plates or French plates
The Swiss desk is the default and its cars carry Swiss plates, with the CHF 40 motorway vignette normally already on the windscreen. Crossing into France, Italy or Germany is covered by the Green Card issued with the rental. The French desk gives you French plates, which suits a trip that stays in France — Annecy, Chamonix, Lyon — and a drop-off there. Its hours are shorter on both counts, so check them against your flight rather than assuming the airport keeps one schedule.
Rates
Genève Aéroport publishes no rental rates, no one-way fees and no insurance excess figures, and neither do we. Avis prices by date, season and booking channel; the only number that means anything is the total at the end of your own booking, insurance and vignette included.
Frequently asked
What time does Avis open at Geneva Airport?
On the Swiss side, 06:30 to 23:30. In the French sector, 08:00 to 22:00. Checked against Genève Aéroport on 26 August 2026; desks adjust their hours seasonally.
Where is the Avis desk at Geneva Airport?
On the arrivals level, in the rental area shared by all the companies — follow the “Car rental / Location de voitures” signs from baggage reclaim. The French-sector desk is separate, with its own entrance and road access from France.
What is the phone number for Avis at Geneva Airport?
+41 22 929 03 30 for the Swiss-sector desk and +41 22 807 62 30 for the French sector, as published by the airport. Note that guides frequently quote the French-sector number for the Swiss desk.
How much does it cost to rent from Avis at GVA?
The airport publishes no rates and the price moves with the date and the season. Compare the all-in total — insurance, vignette and any one-way fee included — on the company’s own site for your own dates.
Do I need the Swiss motorway vignette?
Yes for Swiss motorways: an annual vignette costing CHF 40, displayed on the windscreen. A Swiss-registered rental normally already carries one. A French-plated car from the French sector will not, by default.
Just need one journey?
For a single airport transfer rather than a multi-day rental, a fixed-price car with a driver means no counter, no queue and no vignette to think about.
