What each status means

| Gate closed | Boarding ended; aircraft preparing pushback | You missed it — speak to airline desk for rebook |
| Departed | Pushed back from gate | — |
| Delayed | Departure pushed back; new estimated time shown | Stay near gate; monitor updates |

Departures at Geneva Airport — FAQ
Where can I see live departures from Geneva Airport?
Live departures are on this page (the board refreshes every 30 seconds), on the GVA airport screens throughout T1 and T2, and on the FlightAware live board for Geneva (LSGG). The official source is gva.ch — our board mirrors it via Avionio. For airline-specific live status, check your airline app, which often updates faster than the airport board.
How early should I be at Geneva Airport for my flight?
Schengen flights: 90 minutes before scheduled departure. Non-Schengen / international: 120 minutes. Peak Saturday in ski season (December–February, 06:00–10:00): 150 minutes — security wait can reach 45 minutes. Online check-in saves 20–30 minutes if you have no bags. Bag drop closes 40 minutes before STD on most airlines.
What if my flight is delayed at GVA?
Stay near the gate or in the airline lounge — push notifications via the airline app are usually fastest. Under EC Regulation 261/2004 you are entitled to free meals and refreshments after 2 hours delay (short-haul), free hotel after an overnight delay, and €250–600 compensation for arrival delays of 3+ hours (unless extraordinary circumstances). Keep your boarding pass and receipts; claim later via the airline’s website.
What’s the difference between STD, ETD and ATD?
STD = Scheduled Time of Departure (originally booked). ETD = Estimated Time of Departure (updated forecast). ATD = Actual Time of Departure (when the aircraft pushed back from the gate). On the GVA board, the time shown next to “Scheduled” is the STD; if delayed, the live status will show “Delayed — new estimated time”.
Where do I check in for my flight at Geneva Airport?
All check-in is on the departures level (Level 1) of Terminal 1. Counter ranges by alliance: Star Alliance (1–20), SkyTeam (40–60), Oneworld (60–80), independents (90–100), easyJet (180–198), T2 dedicated counters (Saturdays in ski season). Self-service kiosks throughout. Most airlines now require or strongly encourage online check-in 24h before STD.
