Geneva Airport to Les Menuires — the Belleville valley, in the Trois Vallées.

Les Menuires sits at 1 850 m in the Belleville valley, part of the Trois Vallées and the more practical neighbour of Val Thorens. It is a purpose-built resort where you ski back to the door, and the road up the valley is the whole journey. It is 144 km from Geneva Airport, about 2 h 20 by road on the A41. Here is every option compared, with real journey times and what each is best for.

Getting there without a car

There is no station in the resort itself.

The valley station is Moûtiers, the gateway to the whole Trois Vallées. Everything above it — Les Menuires included — is reached by road.

That last leg is what makes the difference on a winter Saturday. A pre-booked vehicle covers the whole journey in one go, which is why most people arriving with equipment skip the connection entirely.

Driving yourself

Car rental & the road

A41 does most of the work.

The route leaves the airport on the A1 then the A41 and covers 144 km in about 2 h 20 when the road is clear. The Belleville valley road is well maintained but busy at changeover, and the climb is continuous from Moûtiers upward.

Swiss motorways require a motorway vignette. Most cars hired on the Swiss side of Geneva Airport already carry one, but the airport also has a French sector — check at the rental desk rather than assuming.

Questions

Geneva to Les Menuires — FAQ

How long does it take to get from Geneva Airport to Les Menuires?

About 2 h 20 by road for the 144 km.

Is Les Menuires in the Trois Vallées?

Yes — it links directly into the same lift network as Val Thorens, Méribel and Courchevel.

How does Les Menuires compare to Val Thorens?

It sits lower, which usually means milder weather and a shorter final climb, at the cost of a slightly shorter season at the top.

Is a private transfer worth it from Geneva to Les Menuires?

On a winter Saturday the valley is at its worst and the connections at Moûtiers are at their most crowded. That is precisely when a fixed transfer pays for itself.
